Biography

Kyungsoo Oh graduated from the University of London, UK in 1999 with B.Sc. in Chemistry (First Class) before moving to the University of Sussex to study for his Ph.D. under the guidance of Professor Philip J. Parson. While at Sussex, he worked on the total synthesis of rapamycin. Following a postdoctoral study with Professor Jeffrey D. Winkler at the University of Pennsylvania, USA he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in 2005 and promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2011

Development of chemical catalysis Development of catalytic asymmetric methods to construct heterocyclic compounds Stereodivergent synthesis of pyrrolidine scaffolds using Cu(I)- and Ag(I)-catalyzed reactions Natural product synthesis using sulfur heterocycles as a template to control stereoselectivities Identification of a family of chiral tertiary N-oxides as a reactive oxygen transfer reagent and application towards asymmetric oxidations: epoxidation, sulfoxidation, and oxygenation of ketones Biological assay and pharmaceutical profile of the compounds
